Change video resolution
CAUTION: It is possible to set the resolution and color palette on non-standard video adapters where it will be difficult, if not impossible, to read what is on the screen or find the mouse. If this happens, boot the system in 'Safe Mode', and restore the previous resolution and color palette settings using the same steps in the procedure below.
NOTE: You will have to experiment with the effects of the resolution changes. The best advise is to start with the lowest 'Color palette' (16 colors) and 'Desktop size' (640 x 480) selection until the desired effect is reached.
To CHANGE VIDEO RESOLUTION:
1) Click the 'Start' button to display the 'Start' menu.
2) Select 'Settings' and select 'Control Panel'. (The 'Control Panel' window appears.)
3) Double-click the 'Display' icon. (The 'Display Properties' dialog box appears.)
4) Click the 'Settings' tab.
5) Select an option from the 'Color palette' drop-down list box.
6) Move the 'Desktop area' slider to the left, to a resolution that is equal to or less then the resolution supported by the monitor.
7) Click 'Apply'. (The 'System Settings Change' dialog box appears.)
8) Click 'Yes' to restart the system so that the changes take effect now.
NOTE 1: If you only change the 'Desktop size', the change will take affect without having to restart Windows 95.
NOTE 2: Click 'No' to have the changes made the next time the computer is rebooted.
